Upshur County Commission and Elkins Road PSD receive $1,216,566 Community Development Block Grant
Greg Belcher of Chapman Technical Group, Shane Whitehair and Cary Smith of Region VII Planning and Development Council, Carey Wagner, Carolyn Douglas, and Sharon Burr of Elkins Road PSD and Delegate Bill Hamilton accepted the award from the Governor Justice's Chief of Staff Mike Hall at the Capitol Complex in Charleston on February 1, 2018.
Upshur County Commission and Elkins Road Public Service District received a $1,216,566 Community Development Block Grant for their Phase III Water System Improvement project.
This $6.5 million project will make improvements to the Elkins Road Public Service District water distribution system and extend new water service to 82 households which currently rely on private water supplies and wells with poor quality water. In all, more than 1,100 households will benefit from this project.
Small Cities Block Grant funding is provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The Community Advancement and Development a Division of the West Virginia Development Office manages the administration of these funds.
